Verizon picks Microsoft search over Google and Yahoo





Verizon Communications Inc (VZ) has chosen Microsoft Corp (MSFT) to provide Internet search services for cell phones, in what is seen as a blow to rivals Google Inc (GOOG)and Yahoo Inc (YHOO).

In the 60 minute charts you can see the Force Index applied to spot the underlying trend and the %b indicator that diplays where the close is relative to the Bollinger Bands.

GOOGLE (GOOG): down gap at the open and negative short term trend started.
VERIZON (VZ): down gap on 5 January. Since then the stock is in a short term down trend. The %b is printing a positive divergence. The Bands are converging as volatility decreases. Prices are in a congestion that can be traded in breakout mode.
MICROSOFT (MSFT): similar to Google. Down open gap today and down trend started.
YAHOO (YHOO): price opened down, attempted to close the gap and then developed a congestion.
